Laughter with the Same Taste

Movie: Hangover II
Cast:  Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms
Rating: **1/2
Sometimes we get so drunk that its hangover remains for a really long time or maybe forever. Same thing applies also for “Hangover” (the movie) which still remains with us for its outstanding comic timing and original concept. Hangover II fulfils the comic timing to a great extent but lacks the originality completely.
The movie like the last one begins with one of the guys getting married and this time it’s Stu (Ed). He is trying to get rid of the previous hangover and start fresh. The wedding is this time set in Thailand and thus all the four friends Phil (Bradley), Alan (Zach)Doug (Justin) and Stu land up there with a new addition of Teddy (Mason  Lee) who is Stu’s fiancé’s brother. Stu tries everything to avoid any kind of hangover this time. Then the outline of the story is more or less same as the last movie with them waking up from a hangover, trying to uncover the incidents of last night in order to find Teddy who they lost this time.
The story takes the same course as the last one. It totally lacks innovative ideas except for a few incidents. The script has nothing new to offer. But on the positive side it is a laughter riot. The movie has abundant funny scenes and incidents.
The director Todd Phillips followed the same style as Hangover, didn’t take up any risks and thus didn’t have anything new to offer. But Hangover was so good that it worked for this one too. Bradley Cooper looked gorgeous and perfectly played the role of the calm guy with the crazy ideas.  Zach Galifianakis has become a little repetitive with his roles from Hangover, Due Date and now this. Ed Helms definitely steals the show with his performance as the otherwise scared person who goes through the worst incidents when drunk. Ken Jeong (Chow) adds a lot to the funny elements. The picturesque landscapes of Thailand are a pleasure as opposed to the glitter and lights of Las Vegas.
Hangover II definitely has it funny moments and leaves you with a smile on your face. Only hoped if they could bring up something new instead of holding on to the concept and storyline of the first part too literally.
